Vaicak Ceremony

The WAICAK in this year (2009) will be held in May 9. Once a year during the full moon in this May, the Buddhist hold the Vaicak ceremony commemorating the birth, the death and the time when the Boddhisatva attains the highest wisdom and become Buddha. The ceremonies held on Mendut Temple and attended by thousands of Buddhist coming from all over Indonesia.

The following day. The Buddhist walk on procession from Mendut temple, passing the Pawon temple and finally on the Borobudur temple, where another ceremony is staged. Detail information about this great ceremony and packages are normaly issued one or two months before. While registration to be part of the ceremony is open one week before.

Advance reservation must be made to attend or having tours/trip during this.  period. Most hotels will be fully booked. For artist of all over the world, you may join the ART CAMP, organized by local painters, dancers, comedians to welcome and celebrate this Waisyak. Please contact Lukman (lukman@borobudurcorner.com). The ART CAMP will take place in the base camp of Eloprogo, 10 minutes walk from the temple. Discussion, performing art, happening demos will express their talent of art in freedon, wise and courtesy.
